compound predicate

A sentence with a compound verb has two verbs governed by one subject.

Jeb loves ice cream and hates chocolate.

Notice that “loves” and “hates” are both governed by the one subject “Jeb”.  In terms of punctuation, be careful not to place a comma between the two verbs. Compound sentences get a comma; compound verbs do not.
