declension

Declension is the different ways nouns are spelled to show their gender, number, and case.  Greek has three declensions.  The endings peculiar to each are here or in BBG p. 345.  Noun Rule #1 states:

  1. Stems ending in alpha or eta are in the first declension,
  2. Stems ending in omicron are in the second, and
  3. Consonantal stems are in the third.
